Ahrefs Site Verification
For some of our SEO, keyword, and content gap analysis services, we may ask for your help in confirming with our SEO tool that we have permission to crawl the site.
They add this layer of protection to prevent against black hat SEO and bot abuse.
Why:
Verification proves that you own, or have authorization to crawl, the website to be audited. This enables advanced settings for more control over your site audits. We’ll be able to increase your crawl speed and ignore robots.txt rules.
How:
We’ll share a custom snippet of code for you to embed in the header of your site code (sample below, in red). You can remove this at any time.
Copy the meta tag below and paste it into the HTML code of your site’s homepage. It should go in the <head> section, before the first <body> section.

Final step:
Please let us know when it has been added so we can trigger the confirmation and update the crawl settings. That’s it!
